I grew up on TOS and TNG...the female characters had a major impact on my standard of beauty when I was kid. I thought false eyelashes and gravity-defying hair filmed through gauze was the ultimate in glamour. :D
Not only is it an awesome series, Naomi Novik appears to be a genuinely nice person and is really supportive of her fanbase (she got her start in fan fiction, you know). She has a livejournal, too. I would provide a link except my meds just kicked in and I need to sleep NOW before I fall over.
